Thomas Salmen is an attorney and a certified specialist in family law. He studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn and completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf. He has been admitted to the bar since 1987 and has held the title of certified specialist in family law since 2002.

In family law, he assists clients through separation and divorce proceedings—both amicable and contentious. His practice focuses on the determination of spousal support, pension rights equalization, equalization of accrued gains, as well as visitation and custody rights. Issues related to parental support also fall within his area of expertise.

In the area of inheritance law, he advises individuals and family-owned businesses on structuring their estate and succession planning, as well as on enforcing claims under inheritance law. With nearly 30 years of professional experience, he is a particularly seasoned advisor on matters of business succession. In disputes over inheritance and statutory shares, he represents his clients’ interests both in and out of court. Where necessary, he collaborates with experienced tax advisors, certified public accountants, and notaries.

Thomas Salmen is married and has two children.
